Baghdad (IINA) – The Iraqi Oil Ministry announced that it will export the first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through Umm Qasr, a port city in the country's south, Euphrates News reported.
Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said in a statement issued Saturday that a foreign-flag vessel will transfer on Sunday the first export shipment of liquefied natural gas to overseas markets through the port of Umm Qasr. He added that the shipment to be exported is estimated at 10,000 cubic feet of LNG.
"This is the fruit of joint efforts of national cadres in Basrah Gas Company, in collaboration with Shell and Mitsubishi Corp, where the ministry aims through current and future plans to optimally invest in hydrocarbon wealth and increase revenues from gas resources along with crude oil export," the spokesman said.
