Geneva, (IINA) - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) expressed grave concern on Tuesday about a report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria of the aggravation of the Syrian crisis and the deteriorating of human rights and humanitarian situation, WAM reported.
The report was issued in the light of the ongoing violations and crimes committed by the Syrian regime and its cronies, and their dangerous repercussions against civilians in a flagrant violation of the principles of human rights and the international humanitarian law, which resulted in increasing the numbers of displaced people and refugees inside Syria and in neighboring countries.
According to SPA, the GCC expressed its concern in a joint statement delivered by Ambassador Faisal Trad, the permanent representative of Saudi Arabia to the UN, before the Human Rights Council during the interactive dialogue with the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria.
In the statement, Ambassador Trad stressed that the international community's delay in resolving the conflict in Syria caused the murder of more than 400,000 people, and the displacement of millions, as well as increasing the possibility of spreading its effects on neighboring countries that may create a situation of instability and chaos.
