Brussels (IINA) – EU Foreign Ministers began here on Monday their formal meeting with a focus on developments in Libya, ties with Iran and the futures of Middle East peace process, KUNA reported.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the meeting, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini said they will discuss “first and foremost Libya” and over lunch exchange views with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya Martin Kobler.
Mogherini said she met with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Paris on Sunday and discussed with him how to proceed on Libya.
The EU foreign policy chief announced that she will visit Iran on April 16 together with many other EU commissioners to explore ways of cooperation with Iran. They will also discuss the regional dimension with Iranian leaders, including developments in Syria and Yemen.
Mogherini said the EU foreign ministers will discuss the Middle East peace process to try and keep the perspective of the two-state solution, adding that the situation is not improving on the ground. She said the EU is working with the French partners on France's initiative to hold an international conference on Palestine.
