Cairo (IINA) – Egyptian Prime Minister Eng. Sherif Ismail issued a decree on Sunday to relieve Justice Minister Ahmed al-Zend of his position, said a government statement.
The decision comes following Zend's televised remarks, in which he had "insulted Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)".
His comments were denounced by several quarters, particularly the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Egypt's renowned Islamic institution, which released a statement warning against any blasphemous comments about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) even unintentionally.
