Rabat, (IINA) - The Central African Republic (CAR) urged Morocco to maintain its contingent in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Morocco World News reported.
In a letter to its Moroccan counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African integration and Francophonie of CAR Samuel Rangba urged the Kingdom of Morocco to maintain its contingent in the United Nations (MINUSCA) to continue the mission of ensuring the country’s security and stability in accordance with the UN mandate.
The Central African minister underlined, in the letter, that the Moroccan contingent’s contribution in the MINUSCA was very appreciated and helped in the country’s internationally-lauded election process, as well as in the gradual return to peace and security.
The request by the minister of foreign affairs, African integration and Francophonie, on behalf of the government of CAR, comes following the latest visit of the UNSG to the region and his statement on the occasion.
Rangba also reaffirmed his country’s unwavering stance in favor of the plan proposed by Morocco under the UN aegis to settle the Moroccan Sahara issue and reiterated the support of CAR for Morocco in its legitimate quest to defend its territorial integrity.
