Damascus (IINA) – The Syrian government on Tuesday agreed to a “cessation of hostilities” on the condition that the military campaign against the Islamic State (IS) group and the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front will continue in accordance with the U.S.-Russian agreement, news agencies reported.
Syria's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it would continue to coordinate with the Russian side to identify which groups and areas would be included in the cessation of hostilities plan "to ensure the success of agreement”, which is due to take effect on Saturday.
A day earlier, Russia and the United States agreed to enforce a cessation of hostilities starting from February 27.
