Pakistan PM Sharif begins Qatar visit

Islamabad (IINA) – Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif started on Wednesday a two-day visit to Doha on the invitation of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.
Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar, Minister of Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and other senior civilian and military officials are accompanying the prime minister during the visit.
The two sides will exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. They will also hold wide ranging talks.
The main focus of Sharif’s visit and interaction with the Qatari leadership will be on further enhancing bilateral relations in various fields, including energy cooperation, trade and investment, defense, besides increase in employment opportunities for the Pakistani workforce in the Gulf state.
According to a Foreign Office statement, a number of memoranda of understanding covering the spheres of health, media, education and scientific research as well as Long-term Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) would be concluded by both sides.
