Minnesota, (IINA) - Islamophobia has become a serious problem in many areas in USA, and recently the Minnesota Department of Public Safety got caught up in the tensions, AOL News reported.
A vanity license plate reading 'FMUSLMS' somehow passed the approval process and made its way onto a vehicle.
On Saturday, a photo of the offending message was posted to Facebook by a member of the group #UniteCloud, setting off a deluge of unfavorable public commentary.
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton demanded the plate be both revoked and retrieved.
He also commented, "[The plates are] offensive and the person who requested them should be ashamed."
The Department of Public Services has since apologized and taken possession of the license plate.
