Khartoum, (IINA) - Sudan’s President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir opened on Wednesday a joint UAE-Sudanese agricultural project, WAM reported.
The Sudanese president unveiled the commemorative plaque of the project, which is spread over an area of 130,000 acres in northern Sudan. Al-Bashir also toured the first phase of the project, which covers 20,000 acres.
He ordered the facilitation of all obstacles facing the project, calling on officials in the agricultural and investment sector in Sudan to benefit from the UAE's experience in this respect.
The joint project is 40 percent owned by the Sudanese government while UAE's Janan Investment Company owns 60 percent.
The president expressed his admiration for the project and the rain irrigation technology introduced by the Janan Company in Sudan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hamad Al-Junaibi, the UAE Ambassador to Sudan, Mohammed Al-Otaiba, Board Chairman of Janan Investment Company, as well as board members Ahmed Al-Falasi and Mattar Al-Ameri.
