Riyadh (IINA) - Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers on Monday thanked all the brotherly and friendly countries for standing by the Kingdom’s decision to sever ties with Iran, and by showing solidarity with the Kingdom by cutting ties and recalling their ambassadors from Iran.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamama Palace here, condemned the attacks on the Kingdom’s embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Speaking to SPA following the session, Adel Al-Turaifi, minister of culture and information, said the Cabinet appreciated the support pledged by various Arab, Muslim and other friendly states as well as Arab and international organizations and parliaments to the decisions and measures taken by the Kingdom to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, track down perpetrators of terrorist acts and instigators of sedition, prosecute them, and implement judicial rulings without discrimination or any consideration in the application of Shariah.
Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet condemned the attacks, destruction, burning and looting of the properties of the Kingdom’s embassy and consulate in Iran, noting that the attacks came after the Iranian regime’s hostile comments which incited the attackers. The Cabinet appreciated the stand of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers in condemning the attacks and holding the Iranian authorities fully responsible for the terror acts.
The Cabinet also noted the Arab League’s condemnation of the Iranian government for its interference in the internal affairs of Arab states, considering it as a violation of the rules of international law and the principles of good neighborliness as well as a serious threat to regional and international security and peace. At the outset of the session, the Cabinet congratulated the King on the first anniversary of his ascension to the throne.
The Cabinet highlighted the government’s unlimited support for the health, education, housing, employment, transport, economy, and other sectors. It appreciated the King’s directive to the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, following the approval of the annual budget, to work on launching a comprehensive economic, financial and structural reform program.
