OIC chief Iyad Madani

Jeddah (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani strongly condemned the January 20 suicide attack on a minibus in Kabul carrying journalists affiliated with Afghanistan's Tolo News, which killed all seven journalists traveling in the minibus.
The Secretary General extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the government and people of Afghanistan. Meanwhile, he recalled the OIC’s press release issued on 14 October 2015, expressing its concern at the statements through which news channels and journalists in Afghanistan were specifically identified as potential targets.
Madani reiterated the principled position of the OIC against all forms of terrorism and extremism. He, once again, reminded that according to international humanitarian law, journalists are civilians and that any attack on them is against the rule of law.
The Secretary General called upon all to respect the professional requirements of journalists and to protect them.
