Manama the capital of Gulf tourism 2016

Manama (IINA) – Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince of Bahrain, has called for the advancement of the Gulf tourism sector and strengthening its contributions to the economies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
During the launch event to mark Manama the Capital of Gulf Tourism 2016 on Wednesday evening, Prince Salman bin Hamad praised the trends of the GCC countries to support intra-GCC cooperation in order to achieve regional integration at various levels, including the tourist aspect.
He said the selection of Manama as a Capital of Gulf Tourism 2016 comes within these trends, stressing the need to work to achieve the operational steps aimed at making tourism a supporting source of the GCC economies and raising its economic contribution to them.
The Crown Prince highlighted that Bahrain’s rich cultural heritage has contributed to Bahrain becoming a global and GCC tourist destination.
A short documentary about Bahrain’s rich culture and history was presented during the launch event, which highlighted the Kingdom’s tourist attractions and the historical milestones achieved by the Kingdom.
It may be mentioned here that the ministers in charge of tourism in the GCC countries have recently approved "Manama" as Capital of Gulf Tourism 2016.
