Ramallah, (IINA) - Israeli troops continued blocking on Wednesday the entrance of Ni‘lin village, west of Ramallah, for the second consecutive day while they also shot and injured a female Palestinian teenager near Nablus. Locals also stated that five Palestinians died from injuries inflicted on Tuesday, which raised the death toll to 51, WAFA reported.
Member of Ni‘lin Municipal Council ‘Abdul-Hafith Musleh said that Israeli forces blocked the village for the second consecutive day with concrete blocks placed at its entrance, adding that soldiers who were stationed at the entrance prevented Palestinian villagers from approaching and crossing the entrance. He notes that this came a day after the Israeli forces stormed the village and closed its gates, which sparked violent clashes with the villagers.
Israeli forces reportedly fired live and rubber-coated steel bullets as well as tear gas canisters at locals, injuring two Palestinians with live rounds and causing dozens others to suffocate due to gas inhalation. Many other locals sustained various injuries after being hit by rubber-coated bullets.
Meanwhile in Nablus, a 14-year-old female Palestinian teenager has been severely injured after Israeli soldiers opened fire on her near the illegal settlement of Yitzhar.
Locals reported that the teenager was detained by the Israeli army, despite her injuries, minutes after the incident. The teenager’s health condition is still unknown.
It is noteworthy that five Palestinians died on Wednesday suffering from injuries inflicted to them on Tuesday, which raises the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October to 51, including 12 children.
There has been mounting tension across the West Bank and Jerusalem with Israel’s repeated assault of Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, particularly its enforcement of a temporal division of the compound between Muslims and Jews.
