Netflix launches services in Middle East, Africa, Asia

Las Vegas, (IINA) -  Netflix, the on-demand provider of thousands of popular television shows and movies, announced on Wednesday that it launched its services in 130 new countries, CNN reported

The list of countries includes Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Sudan, and Turkey.
"You are witnessing the birth of a global TV network", Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said Wednesday. He noted that most of the new countries will receive programming in English, but he pointed that the network added Arabic, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese to the 17 languages it already offers.
After the launch on Wednesday, Netflix is currently available in almost every country, excluding China, Crimea, North Korea, and Syria. The company stated that the restriction is “due to U.S. government restrictions on American companies”.
Later this year, the company will introduce high dynamic range to its 4K videos. The CEO added that Netflix serves more than 70 million global subscribers. In Q4, they watched 12 billion hours of content, up from 8.25 billion in the same period in 2014.
