Kazakhstan hosts 6th session of Turkic-speaking countries’ Parliamentary Assembly

Astana (IINA) – Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, hosted the 6th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TURKPA) on December 3.
The session, which was held at the International Turkic Academy, started with an international conference on "Statehood and Parliamentary in the Great Steppe".
Kabibulla Dzhakupov, chairman of the Mazhilis (lower house of Kazakh parliament), thanked Azerbaijani parliamentarians for the work conducted during their chairmanship of the TURKPA.
“TURKPA is an important dialogue platform among the Turkic-speaking countries, whose status rises year by year. TURKPA is a parliamentary dimension of the Turkic integration. The Assembly functions actively and renders all-round support to the decisions of our countries within the Turkic Council,” Dzhakupov stressed. 
He congratulated his colleagues on successful parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
The participants heard the reports on the activity of the TURKPA during 2014 and on the utilization of the last year's budget allocated for the Secretariat. They also discussed the organization’s draft budget for 2016 and the date and venue of the next plenary session.
During the meeting, Kabibulla Dzhakupov, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Asylbek Zheenbekov, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly Ismet Kahraman and Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Oktay Assadov were awarded medals for their contribution in strengthening cooperation among the peoples of the Turkic-speaking countries.
On the first day of the 6th TURKPA parliamentary session, members of the delegations witnessed the events reflecting the commonality of cultural traditions of the Turkic-speaking states. They also attended an exhibition of history and culture of the Turkic-speaking countries in Kazakhstan's National Museum.
