Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Malaysia's election into UNESCO's Executive Board for the period of 2015-2019 is in recognition of the country's progress in education, science and culture, BERNAMA reported.
He said as a member of the UNESCO's executive board, Malaysia hoped to be able to contribute more at the international stage.
"Malaysia has just been elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO for the period of 2015-2019," Najib said in his Facebook account on Thursday.
"I see this as a recognition of our progress in education, science and culture and we hope to be able to contribute more at the international stage," he added.
Malaysia has been elected to UNESCO's executive board for the 2015-2019 term after garnering the highest votes among Asia-Pacific countries. The result was announced Wednesday at the 12th Plenary Meeting of the 38th General Conference in Paris.
