Jakarta (IINA) – Indonesian authorities have closed Bali and Lombok airports as ash blown from an erupting volcano of Mount Barujari, in Lombok Island, continues to disrupt flights, Antara News reported.
Last night, the Transportation Ministry announced the closure of airports in Bali and Lombok until Thursday, on advice from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre.
"The Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali and the Selaparang Airport are being shut down until Thursday morning at 8 a.m. central Indonesian standard time, and the conditions will be evaluated again tomorrow morning," the Ministry’s spokesman affirmed.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that Mount Rinjani located in the East, Central, and North Lombok districts erupted again on Tuesday
The volcanic ash cloud is about one kilometer high and blowing north-west from Lombok towards Bali.
