Riyadh, (IINA) - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani received here on Wednesday the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ahmed, BNA reported.
The meeting focused on the developments in Yemen and the UN-led efforts to hold talks between different parties to restore security and peace based on the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the national dialogue conference outcome, and the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
In a related context, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva expressed its appreciation for efforts made by the GCC to help Yemenis affected by Cyclone Chapala which hit the country over the past few days, WAM reported.
OCHA spokesman Jens Laerke said that the GCC had sent at least 17 aircraft loaded with humanitarian aid to Socotra island, pointing out that non-governmental organizations have also been distributing aid, including food, tents and blankets.
