London, (IINA) - Britain stated on Thursday its willingness to commit around half a billion pounds of its aid budget over the next five years in an effort to stop the flow of migrants and refugees to Europe, Petra reported.
British Prime Minister David Cameron also disclosed preparedness to offer £275 million over the next two years to Turkey to help it cope with the scale of the refugee crisis it faces.
This comes on top of £200 million pledged to help African countries address some of the problems that have driven many migrants out of their country of origin.
The extra support for Turkey will be set out as European Union leaders gather for a meeting after the conclusion of a major international summit on the migrant crisis in Malta.
