Riyadh (IINA) - Wrapping up their fourth summit here on Wednesday, leaders of Arab and South American countries categorically rejected any intervention in the internal affairs of countries in the region by any foreign powers in contravention of the UN Charter and the concept of good neighborliness.
In a communique, called “Riyadh Declaration” issued at the concluding session, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center here, the leaders underscored the significance of respecting the unity, sovereignty and independence of countries as well as their regional safety, besides resolving conflicts in a peaceful way. While emphasizing that investment is a big pillar of social and economic development, the leaders underlined the need for strengthening social and cultural interaction between the two regions. King Salman thanked all the heads of state and leaders, and their delegations for their fruitful involvement to make the summit a great success. The concluding session was also addressed by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Moros, whose country will host the next session of the summit. The communique, read out by Abdul Aziz Al-Saqar, secretary general of the summit conference, welcomed the role of dialogue and cooperation between the countries of the two regions in further developing strategic partnership for serving interests of both sides in an atmosphere of reciprocal respect.
The summit emphasized the right of their peoples to live in a stable and prosperous world free from dangers of terrorism, nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction. The leaders called for achieving just and comprehensive peace with regard to the Palestinian issue in line with the international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative to realize the goal of an independent Palestine state with East Jerusalem as its capital with borders as of 1967. The summit underlined the need for reaching peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis on the basis of Geneva 1 Conference and Vienna Conference, as well as to resolve the Yemeni crisis in line with the UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216. The leaders urged Iran to positively respond to the request of the United Arab Emirates to have a peaceful resolution of the issue of the islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb.
The summit called for exerting regional and global efforts to establish a stable world free from dangers of nuclear proliferation. It also denounced terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and rejected linking terror to any religion, culture or race. The communique also welcomed the success achieved by the countries, which are party of the UN framework agreement on climate change. Earlier, on behalf of King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, chaired the closed door session of the summit. The crown prince headed the Saudi delegation to the summit, and the delegation included Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, Petroleum Minister Ali Al-Naimi, Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf and Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir.
