Tajikistan will not hold IRPT members who were not involved in September events

Dushanbe, (IINA) - The Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan announced recently that members of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT) who did not commit any criminal acts nor participate in the events of September will not subjected to criminal liability, Khovar reported.
On September 29, the Supreme Court banned the political party and labeled it as an extremist and terrorist organization.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs formally stated that in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan, individuals who voluntarily withdraw their memberships from the party and suspend all cooperation with it should not stand liable for crimes of the party. However, those who continue their activities with the party, and those who join the party will be held liable for the actions of the party.
The ministry also noted that former members of the IRPT will not be prosecuted.
