OIC chief urges opposition in Guinea to avoid unrest following election results

Jeddah (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani commended the people of Guinea on their enthusiastic participation in the presidential election that took place on October 11.
Madani appealed and urged all the stakeholders, especially those who ran in the elections, to avoid confrontation an actions that might lead to unrest in the country. He called on all the candidates, as statesmen, to always consider the higher interest of Guinea and to channel whatever demands they might have through legal and constitutional means.
The Secretary General also reiterated the continuing support of the OIC to Guinea in its efforts to advance peace, democracy and development.
