Rabat, (IINA) - The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri condemned on Thursday Russia’s military intervention in Syria, noting that the attack carried out without a UN mandate.
According to the Guardian, Russia has been air-striking Hama and Homs for the past two days, and it caused the death of several Syrian citizens and the destruction of civilian facilities. Russia claims that it has been striking ISIS-controlled locations.
ISESCO Director General stated that this violation by a major power and permanent member of the Security Council of the international law heavily undermines international peace and security, noting that this act can lead to widespread chaos in the world.
In the same context, Al-Tuwaijri urged Russia to immediately withdraw its forces from Syria and respect the Charter of the United Nations and that of ISESCO under which Russia was granted an observer status.
