Study: pistachio reduces incidence of diabetes, improves body's response to insulin

Cairo, (IINA) - A recent scientific study published on American medical website "Newsmax Health" accentuated that eating pistachios may help changes the diabetes path, and improves the body's response to insulin.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people who are pre-diabetes have blood sugar levels higher than normal but they are not diagnosed with diabetes, while 15-30 percent of them may get infected within five years.

As reported by Youm7.com , the researchers found that people, of symptoms of diabetes, who ate about a handful of pistachios a day, have improved their blood sugar levels and increased their body's handling of insulin and glucose as well as decreased some signs of inflammation significantly.

The previous studies showed an encouraging evidence that eating nuts, especially pistachios may reduce the possibilities of heart disease and lower cholesterol.

The study was conducted over than 1,000 people. The researchers added that the pistachio boosts energy, due to its low calories value, therefore, it can be included into the daily diet.
