OIC chief concludes official visit to Oman

Muscat (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani concluded an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, during which he met with Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah.
They discussed during the meeting the bilateral cooperation between the OIC and Oman, in addition to the ways to enhance it at all levels.
Bin Alawi emphasized the importance of concerted efforts within the framework of the OIC in order to promote interaction among the Muslim peoples in all spheres.
On his part, the Secretary General paid tribute to the Sultanate of Oman for its pivotal role in the promotion of Islamic solidarity and for its sustained assistance to the OIC.
The two parties also discussed the current challenges facing the Islamic Ummah and the role of the OIC and its member states in addressing them. They stressed the need for further efforts in support of joint Islamic action in the fields of economic, social, cultural, humanitarian, and science and technology affairs.
Further, the meeting addressed the current developments at both the regional and international levels, foremost of which the prevailing situation in Palestine, and the ongoing arrangements for the OIC Ministerial Coordination meeting due to be held on the margin of the coming UN General Assembly in New York. The arrangements for the Islamic Summit on Science and Technology, the Extraordinary Summit on the situation in Palestine and the 13th Ordinary Session of the Islamic Summit were among the issues discussed in the meeting.
