GCC and UNESCO to work out education goals up to 2030

Riyadh, (IINA) - Dr. Rashid Al-Ghayadh, deputy minister of education for planning and development, on Tuesday stressed the importance of identifying indicators and benchmarks approved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) of the aspects that should be included in future education strategies until 2030, SPA reported.
This came in a speech on behalf of the Saudi Minister of Education Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil, while attending the opening session of the meeting, organized by the Arab Education for the Gulf States Office in cooperation with the UNESCO represented by its office in Doha, and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics and the Population Division of the UN to discuss the concerns of education at some point after 2015 in the GCC and Yemen, the meeting was held at the headquarters office in the capital Riyadh.
According to UNESCO’s office in Doha, the meeting started on September 8, and will continue until September 10 and it aims to review specific indicators of education, increase awareness of participants on the importance of UNESCO Institute of Statistics as the main international source of education statistics, as well as composing a road map on how countries are to improve their education and coordination.
