Cairo (IINA) – The Sheikh of Al-Azhar Dr Ahmed Al-Tayeb strongly denounced an exhibition of blasphemous cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), under the name "Stop the Islamization of Denmark", in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.
Egypt’s renowned Islamic institution, Al-Azhar al-Sharif, stressed that such practices would inflame the feelings of hatred as they represent a provocation to Muslims around the world, as well as being incompatible with mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
Al-Azhar confirmed its rejection of these hateful and racist cartoons that would prevent the integration of Muslims into the Western societies.
The Islamic institution called on the international community to condemn such provocative acts which are no less dangerous than the threats posed by some terrorist groups to the world peace.
