Jeddah, (IINA) - Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has congratulated Saudi citizens and Muslims across the world at the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the start of Eid celebration, Arab News reported on Friday.
His greetings followed a Royal Court statement, which announced a Supreme Court decision that Friday is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr for the Hijri year 1436.
Culture and Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi read out the king’s speech.
The king said: “The celebration by all Muslims of Eid Al-Fitr is a manifestation of cohesion and an element of unity among all the people of the Islamic nation.
“This unity propagates the compassion, empathy, love and peace as the noble values of Islam.”
He pointed out that Saudi Arabia was founded on the basis of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace be upon him).
He said the Kingdom has become a role model for unity, development and construction at individual and community levels.
“Saudi Arabia will remain an oasis of security as it fulfills its role in promoting the spirit of love, harmony and healing wounds.”
He said the Kingdom is committed to the principles of justice and peace. It is fighting terrorism so that the world enjoys security, stability and prosperity, said the king.
Since its unification, the Kingdom has been, and still is, concerned about the Islamic nations realizing its location in the heart of the Islamic world and serving the Two Holy Mosques, the king said.
King Salman said Saudi Arabia would continue to serve Islam by standing with Muslims around the globe and defending their legitimate issues, notably the Palestinian cause, at a time when Arab and Islamic nations are passing through a crucial phase.
Saudi Arabia upholds the noble principles of solidarity and unity in line with the Holy Qur’an's teachings, he said.
"Today our Arab and Islamic nation is in need to stick to its principles as it stands firm tin defeating evil organizations — the source of extremism and terrorism,” he added.
The king called for concerted efforts, guided by reason and wisdom, to promote unity.
The king also stressed that Islam is a religion of love and peace, while highlighting the need for peaceful coexistence.
Meanwhile, the Jeddah Municipality has deployed around 900 people to prepare 233 designated mosques and open fields for the Eid Al-Fitr prayers in different districts.
The workers have cleaned up 194 designated mosques and 39 open sites for the early morning prayer, said a top municipality official.
