OIC chief Iyad Madani
Jeddah (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani stressed that collaboration in the field of science and technology is no longer just an option – it's a strategic necessity.
“The Science and Technology Summit, to be held in the last quarter of 2015, constitutes an opportunity for the member states to act collectively to formulate their priorities and agree on a roadmap to reactivate the OIC Plan of Action in the areas of science and technology,” Madani said in the editorial of OIC Journal for the first quarter of 2015.
“The Summit, the first of its kind for heads of state and government of OIC countries, aims to harness science and technology to come up with solutions for everyday life problems faced by the peoples of our nations," he said.
"The revival of scientific and technological renaissance and recover of the lost heritage of Muslim world, which was famous for its quest for knowledge and its abundant innovations, would help to dispel the negative stereotypes about Muslims," the editorial added.
