Cairo (IINA) – Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby called Thursday on all governments, as well as Arab and international organizations to provide immediate humanitarian aid to Somalia and Djibouti, due to the increased burden and influx of local Somali and Yemeni refugees into these countries, KUNA reported.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Somalia’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Abdullah Hassan Mahmoud.
The meeting discussed the developments in Somalia in light of the security situation in Yemen, and the presence of thousands of Yemeni refugees in different parts of Somalia, including the northern region and Punt Land state, said a statement issued by the League.
The League will take all appropriate actions across different ministerial councils to help address this serious humanitarian situation, the statement added.
