Katmandu (IINA) – The UAE youths have continued to serve the community by providing humanitarian aid in Nepal under the UAE Ambassadors for Community Volunteering initiative, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The initiative aims to attract young Emiratis to become representatives in different countries around the world to organize various educational, cultural, sports and social event programs.
Moza Al Otaiba, member of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said that UAE volunteers, in coordination with the official channels, have contributed to alleviating the suffering of children in Nepal by organizing entertainment programs and a variety of activities for those affected by the earthquake which killed over 8,000 people.
Al Otaiba said the UAE volunteer program aims at attracting and training young people on voluntary and humanitarian work in various fields, including health, education and environment, at both local and international levels in coordination with concerned parties, and through a partnership with the world's leading volunteer centers.
She added that for the Zayed Giving Initiative, voluntary work is of paramount importance and is always looking to adopt innovative ideas for voluntary initiatives which have so far launched many campaigns, including the One Million Volunteers Campaign, Emirates Award for Voluntary Work, and the Arab Academy for Volunteering.
