Rabat, (IINA) - The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and Morocco's Ministry of Solidarity, Women, Family and Social Development will hold meeting of regional experts on child protection in Arab states’ social care institutions at ISESCO headquarters next week.
The opening session will be presided over by ISESCO Director General Dr Abdulaziz Altwaijri and Bassima Hakkaoui, minister of solidarity, Women, Family and Social Development of Morocco.
The meeting, which is part of the joint cooperation programme for the year 2014-15, aims to explore the best ways to provide the necessary protection to children in social care institutions in the Arab states and identify the difficulties encountered by these institutions in addressing forms of violence and abuse against children.
The event will also seek to come up with appropriate suggestions to develop the performance of these institutions and improve their services to children, and to develop a draft “general framework for child protection in the Muslim world”.
This meeting will bring together experts on children’s issues from Mauritania, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Morocco, and they will make presentations on child protection in the institutions of their respective countries, and put forward proposals and recommendations on providing protection to children in these institutions and improving their services.
The meeting features three working sessions during which participants will present and discuss the experiences of specialized institutions in Arab states in child protection, and examine the draft “general framework for child protection in the Muslim world”.
