OIC monitors elections in Guyana

Thursday 21 May 2015 - 10:45 Makkah mean time-3-8-1436 Georgetown (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani congratulated the people of the Republic of Guyana on the success of the general and regional elections held on May 11. The Secretary General said that the OIC had dispatched an observation mission to monitor the elections in Guyana. He commended the massive and enthusiastic participation of electorate in the process, being a clear demonstration of their abiding faith in democratic governance. Madani appreciated the government of Guyana and the Elections Commission for their remarkable and responsible approach in conducting the elections. AB/IINA
