Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the Israeli occupation government’s approval for the construction of 900 new settlement units in the occupied East Jerusalem.
The OIC stated that the continued policy of the construction and expansion of Israeli colonial settlements is a blatant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and a grave breach of the relevant international resolutions and covenants.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani said that the settlement operations are aimed at establishing facts on the ground with a view to perpetuating Israeli occupation and isolating Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings.
Madani called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and play its role in ending these violations.
