Nabil Abu Rudeineh
Jerusalem (IINA) – Palestinian Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that “neither peace nor stability will be achieved in the Middle East without having East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, WAFA news agency reported.
Abu Rudeineh’s remarks came in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks about “preserving Jerusalem as a united city under Israeli sovereignty forever.”
Abu Rudeineh added that Netanyahu's remarks are not only a departure from the charters and resolutions of the United Nations and international legitimacy and the Arab summits, but also constitute a clear signal that the stage to come, is a stage of major political confrontation. He stressed that the Palestinian Authority (PA) will resort to all international institutions to put an end to this destructive policy and to isolate it.
Abu Rudeineh stated that Netanyahu's remarks were consistent with the remarks of another minister in the Israeli government, who said: "The Jews will pray in the Temple Mount."
He called on the Israeli government to shoulder its responsibilities, recalling that the UN General Assembly resolution on 29 November 2012, resolved the status of East Jerusalem, considering it as occupied land, thereby Israel no longer has rights or demands on the capital city of the Palestinian state.
