Death toll from Nepal quake reaches 8,413 amid fresh tremors

Kathmandu (IINA) – Death toll from the recent Nepal earthquake reached 8,413 according to the Nepal Red Cross Society, as the country was once again hit by two aftershocks on Friday morning, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The national Seismological Center reported a 4-magnitude fresh tremor hit the country at 2:19 a.m. with the epicenter at Sindhupalchowk district, while another aftershock measuring 5 at Richter scale was felt at 6:17 a.m. with its epicenter being at Dolakha. However, no damage was reported from the tremors.
So far the country has witnessed 150 aftershocks since the devastating quake on April 25 that left a trail of destruction across the country. Meanwhile, the government in Kathmandu said the death toll reached 7,802 far below the number given by the Nepal Red Cross Society at 8,413.
The Home Ministry said 15,911 people were injured and 6,088 of them are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Up to 3,035 deaths were reported from Sindhupalchowk district, while the capital Kathmandu’s toll stood at 1,210.
The number of totally destroyed houses are 288,798 in addition to 10,790 government buildings. Some 254,411 houses and 14,997 government buildings were damaged.
