Uganda's President Museveni reshuffles cabinet

Kampala (IINA) – Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has reshuffled his Cabinet with Mary Karooro Okurut, the former Gender Minister, named as the new Minister of Security, replacing Muruli Mukasa, BERNAMA reported.

In the changes announced here Sunday, Mukasa is now the Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Affairs, in an exchange of portfolios with Okurut.

In a detailed list of the new Cabinet line-up, Museveni said: "I have appointed and re-appointed the Vice-President, the Prime Minister and Ministers. I have also restructured the Ministry of Education and Sports to be the Ministry of Education, Sports, Science and Technology."

Jim Muhwezi, who was in the cabinet in 2006 as Minister of Health, is the new Minister of Information and National Guidance, replacing Rose Namayanja.

Meanwhile, Matia Kasaija, who was previously the State Minister for Finance, has been appointed Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, replacing Maria Kiwanuka, who is the new Senior Presidential Adviser for Finance.

Peter Nyombi has been dropped as Attorney-General and replaced by his deputy Fred Ruhindi, who will have Mwesigwa Rukutana as his deputy.
