Lebanese forces defuse 20-kilogram bomb near northern border

Beirut, (IINA) - Lebanese Army technicians on Saturday discovered and defused an improvised explosive device at the northern border with Syria, the military announced in a statement.

Lebanese Daily Star newspaper noted that the statement issued by the Lebanese military, stated that the explosive device was found on Saturday by an Army patrol on the side of a dirt road in the Akkar town of Abboudieh.

The explosives expert examined the 20-kilogram bomb and defused it, it added.

A security source told the Daily Star that the explosive was 70 meters away from an Army checkpoint and was on the Lebanese side of the border with Syria.
