Putrajaya (IINA) – UN Special Rapporteur on Right to Health Dainius Puras has arrived on Wednesday in Malaysia on an official visit, which will conclude on December 2, in order to assess the efforts of the government towards the realization of the right to health in the country, BERNAMA reported.

During the visit, Puras is scheduled to have a series of meetings and dialogue sessions with representatives from the Health Ministry; Rural and Regional Development Ministry; Economic Planning Unit; Women, Family and Community Development Ministry and Human Resources Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that Puras, an independent expert appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), is also scheduled to make courtesy visits to various medical and healthcare facilities in the country.

It said Puras would consider issues related to the enjoyment of the right to health, including availability, accessibility and quality of healthcare services and facilities, as well as the underlying determinants of health in the country.

"The information gathered during his visit will be included in the Special Rapporteur's report to the UNHRC in June 2015," the statement added.
