UN chief urges all involved in Comoros electoral process to refrain from violence

New York (IINA) – After the release of the provisional results of a state elections in Comoros, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday urged the candidates and all the other actors and institutions involved in the electoral process to play by the rules and refrain from the use of violence.
“The Secretary-General is following with concern the developments in Comoros since the publication by the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) of the provisional results of the primary elections of the President of the Union of Comoros and the first round of the elections of the Governors of the Islands of Grand Comoros, Anjouan and Mohéli,” said a statement issued by Ban's spokesperson.
The UN chief urges the government, the candidates and all the other actors and institutions involved in Comoros electoral process to play by the rules and refrain from the use of violence, the statement added.
