Abidjan (IINA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made his first official visit to the Ivory Coast on Sunday, which will give a boost to bilateral ties, Anadolu Agency reported.
President Erdogan was received at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Airport in the capital Abidjan by Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, his wife Dominique Ouattara, Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan and Turkish Ambassador to Ivory Coast Esra Demir. He also greeted 60 other local tribal leaders at the airport.
Turkey’s investments in the country reached $150 million in 2015. Both countries now aim to boost trade volume to $1 billion by 2020.
Erdogan's ongoing West Africa tour will also include Ghana, Nigeria and Guinea. He toured sub-Saharan Africa with a visit to Senegal last month.
