Rabat (IINA) - The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, applauded Pope Francis’ stance regarding the denigration of religious beliefs.

Dr Altwaijri noted that Pope Francis’ comments confirm what Muslims always say in this regard that the freedom of expression must be exercised with due respect for the beliefs and dignity of peoples.

At the same time, Dr Altwaijri invited the United Nations to activate the resolution on combating defamation of religions, adopted by the General Assembly in April 2011, in such a way as to maintain international peace and security and prevent provocation and humiliation of believers.
