Nigeria to hold renewable energy investment forum by year's end

Abuja, (IINA) - A renewable energy investment forum and exhibition will be held in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja later in 2016, WAM reported.
The event will bring together experts, investors, technology developers, manufacturers, and relevant stakeholders in the renewable energy investment sector, as well as local and international entrepreneurs and institutions.
The two-day forum will be co-organized by the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the federal government of Nigeria, and the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in Nigeria.
"The investment forum will create awareness about the opportunities, prospects and incentives in the renewable energy sector of Nigeria. It will also help formulate an action plan to promote and support private sector investments in renewable energy development, and expose investors to financing opportunities in the field", said Chuma Ezedinma, officer-in-charge of UNIDO Regional Office in Nigeria.
The forum will feature an exhibition of modern renewable energy products and technologies and serve as a platform for business meetings on ways to finance renewable energy projects in Nigeria.
Habiba Lawal, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, thanked UNIDO for participating in the organization of the event and for assisting Nigeria in harnessing and channeling the country’s abundant renewable energy resources for productive activities.
