New Jersey, (IINA) - The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) recently joined Elmwood Park Memorial High School Principal and President of the Elmwood Park Administrators Association (EPAA) David Warner in calling for the resignation Board of Education member Gladys Gryskiewicz after she reportedly posted a series of racist and Islamophobic messages on her personal Facebook account.
One post urged Muslims to "stay in your desserts [sic] and follow your religion in your own countries." Another post declared, "The French told them to get lost and this is what our president should do," and continued, "Go back to your own country; America needs to get rid of people like you."
“Bigoted statements like those reportedly made by Gryskiewicz are extremely offensive and demonstrate a level of intolerance that should disqualify her from serving on any organization overseeing the education of children,” said CAIR-NJ Executive Director, James Sues. “We applaud Warner and other school district leaders for taking a stand against bigotry.”
CAIR is offering a booklet, called "An Educator's Guide to Islamic Religious Practices," designed to help school officials provide a positive learning environment for Muslim students.
