Islamabad, (IINA) - As many as 144 Baloch militants laid down their arms on Monday in Balochistan, the southwestern province of Pakistan, accepting government’s amnesty scheme which was announced last year, WAM reported.
According to the Commissioner of Kalat district, four commanders of different militant organizations were also among the militants to give up arms.
In a statement, he said the government has promised financial assistance to youths who laid down their weapons and abandoned violence against the state.
Last year, over 400 militants laid down their arms in the provincial capital and vowed to shun violence.
