ISESCO condemns Israel's detention of Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher

Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher Muhammad Salim being detained by Israeli occupation forces

Rabat (IINA) – The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) condemned Israel's arrest of Sheikh Muhammad Salim, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and taking him in for interrogation for incitement.
In a statement obtained by the International Islamic News Agency (IINA), ISESCO Director General Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri said the Israeli occupation authorities' act "constitutes a flagrant violation of international human rights laws, conventions and declarations, and the right of Muslims in Jerusalem to practice their religion."
"The Israeli harassments against the Palestinians, including restrictions on freedom to express their views and positions through the closure of Palestine's radio and TV stations, and the arrest of imams and preachers, as well as its persistence in conducting illegal excavations in Al-Aqsa Mosque are crimes against humanity that provoke the feelings of all Arabs and Muslims," Dr Altwaijri said, adding that "these Israeli measures should be tackled by all means in order to preserve Al-Aqsa Mosque and the dignity of Palestinians to restore their rights in their homeland."
The ISESCO director general called on the international community, the United Nations, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) "to exert maximum efforts to stop the attacks and brutal practices against the Palestinians and their holy places, and to apply pressure on Israel to cease its aggression and force it to abide by international law."
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation forces arrested Sheikh Muhammad Salim as he left the Al-Aqsa Mosque after Friday prayers. He was released three hours later.
