US: No indication that Iran is not meeting commitments under nuclear deal

Washington (IINA) – The U.S. State Department on Monday said it is important that Iran lives up to its commitments to a nuclear deal it signed last summer, Anadolu Agency reported.
The State Department also said it is vital that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is completely transparent regarding Tehran's activities.
"We've certainly seen no indication that they [Iran] are not meeting their commitments under the JCPOA, and that's what matters most," State Department Spokesman John Kirby said.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is the agreement Iran signed last year with a group of world powers that placed restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting of some economic sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic.
Kirby's comments follow published reports that Head of IAEA Yukiya Amano noted that the nuclear watchdog was no longer permitted to release details about Iran’s nuclear program and Tehran's compliance with the deal. IAEA is responsible for ensuring Iran complies with the JCPOA.
A report by the agency last month excluded certain details and figures related to Iran’s nuclear program – raising objections by critics who charge the IAEA is not being transparent about its findings.
But Amano said the agency’s report was intentionally vague because the JCPOA prohibited the IAEA from publishing critical data about Iran’s nuclear activities.
