Washington (IINA) – Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump said Monday that he would recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the US embassy there if elected as president.
On Monday, shortly before speaking to Washington’s biggest pro-Israeli lobby group, Trump told CNN: “There’s nobody more pro-Israel than I am. We have to protect Israel. Israel is so important to us.”
Asked whether he would recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, he replied: “Yes, I would.”
“The fact is I would like to see it moved, I would like to see it in Jerusalem,” he said, adding that he supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
