Protests against building of mosque in Spain's Canaries

Anti-Muslim slogans (Image from Internet)

Rabat (IINA) – Anti-Islam slogans were spray-painted by a number of residents of Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, one of Spain's Canary Islands off northwestern Africa, in protest against the building of a mosque in the area.
Residents of the city had earlier submitted a petition to the local authorities, expressing their rejection of a mosque construction, however the authorities did not respond to the request.
It may be mentioned here that the Muslim population in Las Palmas is around 20,000 people, who have waiting for the building of a mosque for twenty years.
