OIC condemns suicide bombing attack on Nigeria's mosque

Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Tuesday's bomb attack on a mosque in Umurari Molai area in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State in northeast Nigeria.
The attack, believed to have been detonated by two female suicide bombers, resulted in the death of at least 22 worshippers and injuring more than 35 others who have gathered for the Fajr (dawn) prayers.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani expressed deep sorrow at this incessant killing of persons, especially at places of worship in the ongoing violence in that part of Nigeria. He warned the perpetrators from continuing in this course and urged them to desist from their criminal acts to allow peace in the region.
Madani conveyed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the people and government of Nigeria. He restated the OIC commitment to continue its support to the Nigerian government's efforts in its renewed campaign to defeat terrorism. He also appealed to the authorities to further raise the security level around places of worship.
